Abijata-Shalla National Park - Ethiopia

The 10000 flamingos lodge is inside the Abijata-Shalla National Park, on a beautiful hill, over viewing Lake Chitu and Lake Shalla.

 

It takes a 3,5 hours drive south from Addis Ababa to the lodge, or 286 km on the highway and a good asphalt road.

 

NO need to stop at the headquarters of the Abiata Shalla Park to buy your ticket. The ticket is now available in the lodge, where one of the scouts will present you the receipt (90 birrs per tourist/24 h - Mai 2018).

 

For those who like to visit the OMO valley, this lodge is an ideal stop on the way, only 13 km from the main road.

How to reach the lodge ?

 

From the international airport in Addis Ababa
We can organize direct transfer from the international airport in Addis Ababa to the lodge.

From Awassa airport to the lodge
There is a flight Addis-Awassa 4 times a week. We can pick you there (ask us for the actual price).

By public transport
For those who like to come by public transport, we will give detailed information how to reach the lodge. It takes 5 to 6 hours starting from Addis Ababa by public transport. In Taitu hotel in Addis, you can buy tickets for the Selam bus, who brings you in 4 hours to Shashemene.

By road
Drive to Shashemene, through the Rift Vally lakes, where you take the road to SODO. After 21 km, you see on your right side in the village of Aware the signboard to the right, between 2 small houses.
If you come from SODO, this signboard is 10 km after the village of Adjé, where you drive down in the Rift Valley.
Ones you take this small gravel road at the signboard, you follow it for 6 km. Approaching the village of Senbete, you going to see 3 signboards of the Lodge, to make that you turn around the central market place, which is narrow, specially on market days like Thursday and Sunday.
After that, you follow the road another 5 km and see a signboard to the left where you see the lodge on the top of a hill (400meters).
